Private firefighting crews, including All Risk Shield, are being hired by Los Angeles residents to help protect homes as fast-moving wildfires strain public fire services.

The Ruby Fruit, one of Los Angeles’ two lesbian bars, said it will close permanently because the wildfires caused too much financial harm.

Photos show the damage left by the L.A.-area wildfires, including major destruction in Pacific Palisades and Altadena, as Southern California Edison faces claims its equipment may have sparked one of the blazes.
